Windows Live Writer

After reading about how people are having good experiences with Windows Live Writer, I decided to try it for my main tool for writing posts to my blog.

Here are my brief thoughts of my experience so far using Windows Live Writer with BlogEngine.NET.

Pros

  1. [WLW+BE] Categories, tags, slug, excerpt and etc are well integrated.
  2. [WLW+BE] Other advanced options like open/close comments and selecting authors are also supported.
  3. [WLW] Better/more options for inserting images compared to what default TinyMCE offers. It automatically resizes images into 3 different sizes that I can predefine and select from. It also allows you to add text watermark and select simple frames.
  4. [WLW] Extensions for even more fun!

Cons

  1. [WLW+BE] You cannot write "pages" with WLW.

I like it so far.

I'm now going to try out some extensions now, first one being the code snippet extension.
Exciting...
